What becomes of a playroom once the kids have grown? At Rochman Design Build, we believe a home should evolve alongside the family it shelters. Marking our third collaboration with these wonderful clients in Ann Arbor’s historic Burns Park neighborhood, this sunroom remodel on Morton Avenue showcases how underutilized space can be reimagined for a new chapter.

Our design-build team transformed the former playroom into a sophisticated, multi-functional retreat—serving as a sitting room, quiet reading nook, and a modern work-from-home office. By strategically expanding the living room footprint, we created a seamless flow that now accommodates large family gatherings and holiday dinners. This project exemplifies our commitment to elevating your love of home through high-end residential renovations that balance functional architecture with the warmth of a life well-lived.

It’s demolition week. Time to take out the old and get ready for the new.

We removed the cabinets in the playroom (original sunroom) And enlarged the opening to the living room, making it easier for our clients to handle a table for 30😉.

The elaborate archway’s main goal is to conceal the HVAC trunk lines as well as create a cabinet nook. Combining function + beauty is all part of what makes us… us 😊

It might not look like it but here we’re furring out kitchen brick veneer so that we’re able to hang drywall. (FYI – or rather, FMI -  To "furr out" brick veneer means installing furring strips (thin wooden or metal boards) to create an overhang for the veneer, which is a non-structural brick layer, often for aesthetics.)
